This is a course on how to use Inkscape to design vector files. This course will include a portion on using those files in LightBurn for laser cutting, but the concepts are the same for many other CNC devices.

Instructor: Andrew Deelstra

Inkscape is an open source software that is used for vector design (if you don't know what that means, you can join the course to find out!). Here are topics that will likely be covered:

  • Objects, paths, and text
  • Node editing
  • Fill and stroke settings
  • Grouping, alignment, layout
  • Boolean operations
  • Miscellaneous setup/preferences
  • LightBurn integration/workflow

What to bring:

  • computer with a mouse. There are 2 PCs in the classroom that might be usable, but I'm unsure of their status at this time.
  • warm clothes, including a toque.  Makerspace is unheated.
  • (optional) snacks to share with the group!
