This course is intended to teach a new student the capabilities and basics of using a 2.5D CNC router. Once the course is complete, a student should be able to plan, design, and build a project using a CNC router. Upon completion of the course you will be ready for a checkout on the Victoria Makerspace CNC, and should be able to use the CNC on their own.
The primary material for this course will be wood, however, use of plastics and soft metals will be discussed as well.
Students will have the opportunity to complete multiple small projects, in order to build competency and muscle memory on the CNC router.
This course is not intended to teach CAD; it is expected that the student can produce a model or .dxf .svg file to create toolpaths using VCarve.
Vcarve does NOT run on mac but we do have extra computers in the classroom.
