Ever wondered what the FIX IT team does? Here’s your chance to play with robots! In this course you will:

  • Assemble a basic robot,
  • Learn how to make your own mechanisms to play a robot game,
  • Create an autonomous program (using Blocks or Python) using sensors (distance, line following, gyro),
  • Program a gamepad to control the robot,
  • Use what you’ve learned in the first annual Makerspace XRP Games.

In this course you will be using the XRP kit from Sparkfun.  No programming experience required.  Participants can choose from a Blocks programming interface or Python.

Participants can choose to buy their own XRP Beta kit with3D printed parts, for an additional $100, or just use the kit provided for the course.

If there’s interest, we can order the newer XRP kit at a discount.

The new kit, without 3D printed parts, should be $150 Canadian including shipping and taxes. It’s possible the tariffs could increase that amount slightly.

This course runs on consecutive Sunday with the Makerspace XRP Games on the afternoon of May 25.

Parents are welcome to have one child working with them as a single registered participant. If you both want your own robots, then it’s two registrations.

Registration Options (Makerspace Members)

$100 - XRP course using provided materials
$200 - XRP course and you take your robot home
$250 - XRP course with new version of XRP electronics that you take home

This course will not run without a minimum of 4 attendees. Refunds or rescheduling will be undertaken in good faith in this eventuality.
